MAKING MUSIC—BUILDING COMMUNITY—CHANGING LIVES

We offer tuition-free music education and performance opportunities for girls and boys, kindergarten through high school. We are a musical and
 educational outreach of St .Paul’s Episcopal Church in Englewood, New Jersey. We are tuition-free, and choristers are paid stipends that increase as they advance. We accept children from Englewood and the surrounding towns, all economic circumstances and all faith traditions—all are welcome. Choristers need not be members of St. Paul’s; they must only agree to rehearse and perform as scheduled.

St Paul’s Choir School is a Musical and Educational Outreach of St Paul's Episcopal Church. We seek to:
  • Provide solid musical instruction in a friendly and fun environment of mutual respect and achievement;
  • Create opportunities for children to
grow in musical and spiritual strengths
that nurture their growth;
  • Provide children of diverse abilities and
backgrounds with a program of music appreciation and choral performance that seeks to fulfill each child’s musical potential.

History of the St Paul's Choir School
The St. Paul's Choir School was the idea of a few parishioners who were concerned about children and the Englewood Public School District. Under the leadership of Mark Trautman (music director of St. Paul's, 2010-2021) and with the support of the Rev. Robert L. Shearer (Priest in Charge, 2009-2014), the choir school began serving children from the community. More than 100 children have passed through the program since 2012. The choir has sung at NJPAC, bergenPAC, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and recorded for HBO Studios. Many of our graduates are currently in college and our first graduate earned his bachelor's degree in 2021. Thanks to the generous support of so many, we have raised nearly $200,000 in grants and more than $153,000 in donations since we first began in September 2012. The Choir School Program has more than $50,000 in its account as of today, which will secure the chorister program for the 2021-2022 academic year.
